Resources are little nudges to help your nervous system feel safer

In order to heal you need to learn to be in your body, with yourself, while tolerating discomfort and difficulties. I know this doesn’t sound sexy, but it’s the truth. 

If you can’t tolerate discomfort, you won’t have capacity to experience the positive side of life. 

Joy, awe, contentment. These positive states require capacity to be felt. They are expansive to the system. 

We are often so eager to get rid of discomfort, that when we use resources we use them expecting the discomfort to go away.

The expectation of wanting to get rid of something, inadvertently strengthens the same thing you want to get rid of, as it puts pressure on your system by adding resistance. 

Resources are not designed to make discomfort go away. It’s rather used so that: 

🌿 You can be more present in your body while going through a trigger. 

🌿 You can gently rewire your brain and nervous system into a “new normal”. 

🌿 You can build more capacity in your nervous system.

🌿 You can use it in your daily life, even when there is no trigger. This way you can practice before there is a trigger. 

🌿 The more you practice, the more you can gently get in touch with your own body. 

🌿 You can tolerate the trigger in a more productive way, without going back into your old default. 

Resources are not meant to get rid of discomfort, it rather gives you a healthy alternative “to be with” whatever is showing up in the present moment.
